Destination Prague

Prague has a long and varied history from its roots in the 9th century, when the original Prague Castle was erected, to its modern day charm and warmth. This history and 'picture postcard' beauty make the city an excellent travel destination for those in search of a city break.

Lonely Planet Prague

The charm of Prague stems from the fact that many of its old buildings remain intact; site seeing tours are a must if you don't want to miss anything. Day, night and river tours are available and can be arranged from most hotel receptions; many operators will even pick you up from there.

Wenceslas Square;

The Square has always been the hub of this quaint city and still is today. The wide street caters for every need with plenty of shops, restaurants, bars and clubs. There are also many hotels in and around this location. It is definitely the place to be for day time shopping and night time entertainment.

Prague Castle;

The castle stands on the banks of the River Vtlava in the heart of old town Prague. It is reportedly the largest castle in the world and as such there is plenty to see and do inside; one of the best and most popular ways to do this is by a guided foot tour.

The Charles Bridge;

Named after the Roman Emperor and King Of Czechoslovakia who ordered its construction in the 14th century; Charles IV. The bridge is a masterpiece of Gothic stonework and is adorned by statues of various historical figures from Czech history.

Top Tip;

Try to fit in a night time sight seeing with meal river cruise along the Vtlava; the tour operators will pick you up and drop you back at your hotel. Not only will you be treated to a wonderful nights entertainment but you will also see some of the breathtaking views of Prague, lit for the views from the river.

Getting There:

By Air; Shuttle buses are readily available between Prague Airport and the city with a journey time of around 20 minutes.

By Road; With a  new four lane road linking Prague to the German border, driving here is easy with very little traffic. Once into the city it is obviously busier and many of the streets are still cobbled so can be bumpy.
