Las Ramblas is just under
a mile long from the port up to Placa Catalunya; it is a wide
paved area filled from end to end with street entertainment, shops, clubs, bars and
great restaurants. It is definitely the place to be for night
time entertainment but beware of choosing a hotel here if you
like to sleep! The bars tend to be open and noisy well into the
early hours.
The sight seeing tours are
plentiful and are the best way to get to know your way around
Barcelona. Look for information at most bus stops or ask at your
hotel reception. Once you know your way around there is plenty
to see. Barcelona is, for example, home to more than fifty
museums, attracting some seven million visitors per year. The
most popular of these is the Museo Picasso, featuring the great
painters work.
Getting There:
By Air;
Barcelona and Girona Airports. Girona is about a one and a half
hour drive.
By Sea;
Barcelona is a major port visited by many cruise lines.
By Road;
Roads in Spain, as in much of mainland Europe, are a pleasure to
travel making driving here from other parts of Europe easy.
